Action Learning
Action learning is a highly effective way of developing skills in small businesses. It takes account of the constraints on time and people in small companies and allows all learning activity to focus on issues that are real and current for the business. It usually involves a group of colleagues meeting regularly - usually supported by a facilitator - in order to learn through solving real problems relevant to each individualšs real work role. Each person benefits by learning with and from others who are also working to solve real problems. Because action learning is about taking individual responsibility for implementing actions that solve the problems - not just analysing and making recommendations - it delivers immediate benefits to the learners' business.
